Battlefield Tours in Crete

The Battle of Crete in May 1941 was unique because in just a few days the invading German airborne division lost more than 4500 men - more than the whole German army had lost in the entire war up to that point. The battle also delayed Hitler's invasion of Russia, dramatically changing the course of the war in Europe; and the Cretan resistance tied up 5 German divisions during the occupation of the island.

Reg, being interested in military history in general, was fascinated by this battle and its aftermath from the time he came to Crete in 1976. He has read extensively on the subject, visited most of the battle sites and, more importantly, had the honour to meet many veterans of the battle, both Commonwealth and Cretan. It is from these people that he has gained insight and information that isn't found in books - the personal stories of horror, heroism and humour that made this battle so unique. He has used this knowledge to conduct special tours that have been enjoyed by many British and American military personnel and civilians alike.
